Strawberry Syrup

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice optional

Instructions
 

  • Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them.
  • Add strawberries, sugar, and water to a saucepan.
  • Heat over medium heat until gently simmering.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in lemon juice and simmer 1–2 more minutes.
  • Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve.
  • Let cool, then transfer to a jar and refrigerate.

Notes

  • Syrup thickens as it cools.
  • Frozen strawberries work well.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
  • Keeps in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • Servings and calories are calculated per tablespoon.
