Ingredients

  • 2 shots espresso
  • tbsp maple syrup
  • pinch of sea salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk or your milk of choice
  • 1 cup ice

Salted Maple Cold Foam (optional topping)

  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • tiny pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  • Brew two shots of espresso.
  • Stir the maple syrup and sea salt into the hot espresso until fully dissolved.
  • Allow the espresso to cool for several minutes.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice.
  • Pour the milk over the ice.
  • Pour the cooled espresso over the ice and milk.
  • Stir well to combine.
  • If desired make the salted maple cold foam. Froth the heavy cream, milk, maple syrup, and sea salt until thick but pourable, then spoon it over the latte.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor.
  • Fine sea salt dissolves more easily than coarse salt.
  • Oat milk makes an excellent dairy-free alternative.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, add an extra shot of espresso.
  • For a sweeter latte, stir in another teaspoon of maple syrup.
  • Chill the espresso before pouring it over ice to keep the drink from becoming diluted.
  • Top with salted maple cold foam for a richer coffee shop-style finish.
  • A light sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice makes a delicious seasonal garnish.
