- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 2 tbsp warm water not boiling
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice about 2 lemons
- 1/2 cup cold water or sparkling water for fizz
- 1-2 tsp honey, agave, or simple syrup
- ice
- lemon slices, mint, ginger for decoration optional
Sift your matcha. Add the teaspoon of matcha to a small bowl through a fine mesh strainer. This step prevents clumps.
Whisk with warm water. Add 2 tablespoons of warm (not hot) water and whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk or small regular whisk until smooth and frothy.
Make your lemonade. In a separate glass, combine the fresh lemon juice, cold water (or sparkling water), and sweetener. Stir or shake until the sweetener dissolves.
Combine. Add ice to a glass. Pour in the lemonade and then the whisked matcha.
Garnish and serve. Garnish with lemon slices or mint if you want.
- You can double or triple this recipe for a pitcher version.
