Iced Matcha Lemonade

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp warm water not boiling
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice about 2 lemons
  • 1/2 cup cold water or sparkling water for fizz
  • 1-2 tsp honey, agave, or simple syrup
  • ice
  • lemon slices, mint, ginger for decoration optional

Instructions
 

  • Sift your matcha. Add the teaspoon of matcha to a small bowl through a fine mesh strainer. This step prevents clumps.
  • Whisk with warm water. Add 2 tablespoons of warm (not hot) water and whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk or small regular whisk until smooth and frothy.
  • Make your lemonade. In a separate glass, combine the fresh lemon juice, cold water (or sparkling water), and sweetener. Stir or shake until the sweetener dissolves.
  • Combine. Add ice to a glass. Pour in the lemonade and then the whisked matcha.
  • Garnish and serve. Garnish with lemon slices or mint if you want.

  • You can double or triple this recipe for a pitcher version.
  • Adjust the sweetness depending on your lemonade. Store-bought ones are usually sweeter.
