Caramel Syrup

Caramel syrup is a rich homemade syrup that blends perfectly into coffee drinks. Easy to make with only three ingredients and way better than store-bought.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¾ cup water added later
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Add sugar and 1/4 cup water to a saucepan. Heat over medium until dissolved.
  • Let it simmer without stirring until it turns deep amber (8–12 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and slowly add 3/4 cup water, stirring carefully.
  • Return to low heat and stir until smooth.
  • Add vanilla extract.
  • Let cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • Watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Add water slowly to prevent splattering.
  • Store in the fridge and warm slightly before use if needed.
  • The syrup has around 50 calories per tablespoon.
