Banana Bread Syrup

Banana bread syrup is a rich, homemade syrup made with real banana, brown sugar, and warm spices. It adds a cozy, bakery-style flavor to coffee, lattes, and cold brews without tasting artificial.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 ripe banana
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of nutmeg optional

Instructions
 

  • Mash the ripe banana in a bowl until mostly smooth.
  • In a saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, mashed banana, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Place over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing to extract syrup.
  • Let cool completely, then transfer to a jar or bottle.
  • Store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • Adjust cinnamon to taste.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 10 days.
  • Shake before using if slight separation occurs.
  • Start with 1 tablespoon in coffee and adjust.
  • Total yield is about 1 to 1 1/4 cups syrup (after straining). You’ll get:
    • 8–10 drinks if you use 2 tbsp each
    • 16–20 drinks if you use 1 tbsp each
